The F.A.Q.s

So you've got questions, eh? Well, most do when they first come across Progeny. Here, we'll answer some of the more common ones.

Why did you make new Charmed Ones in the first place? Why did you choose who you chose to be the new Charmed Ones? And can mine be one?
First, we chose to pass on the Power of Three as a whim, early on when we first brought Progeny over to IJ, about a year and a half - two years after starting the game. Why? Honestly, there was only four of us in the game then, and the new Power of Three was mod-controlled. Second, same as the first. The Power of Three was mod-controlled. The three girls originally were Melinda (Piper's daughter), Parker (Phoebe's Ladybug), and Ariel (one half of Paige's twin girls). When original Parker passed away (more on that later), her sister, Allyson, took her place. And no, your pup cannot be a Charmed One. Like mentioned, that's mod-controlled.

Well, since there's new Charmed Ones, what does that mean for the sisters and all the rest of the second Halliwell generation?
It simply means that the Power of Three has passed on to a new three. The sisters (Piper, Phoebe, and Paige) are still all powerful witches in their own aspects, but the connection that is the Power of Three doesn't rest with them anymore. It rest with the three girls they passed it on to, meaning that if a Power of Three spell is needed, then Ariel, Melinda, and Ally must be the ones to cast it. As for the other children? They are all still just as important as the three girls, some of them more powerful even (like Wyatt and Halli).

Why don't the ages of the second generation correspond with canon?
Because when we started the game four years ago, we honestly didn't give much thought to that. Progeny was created just to have fun and nothing more, so we didn't stop to go by those ages. Plus, we like the idea of keeping them close in age as opposed to being separated by so many years. It's one of the very few canon tidbits we let slide.

Do you have a Source of all Evil? Can my demon/warlock become the Source?
Yes, we have a Source and no, you're character cannot become the Source. Our Source, Jack Hanson, is mod-controlled for plot usage. If you have a demon or some other evil bad guy, he cannot overturn the Source. If he challenges him, things won't go well for your pup, so please be wary of that fact if you should ever suggest something like that for your character.

How does game time work?
Instead of giving free reign or the mods having super control by days, here, we go by week changes. That gives the mods control on the speed of game plots while also giving players some leeway as to posting. The in-game week changes once all of the pre-plotted stuff for that week is near to completion. Now, pre-plotted stuff means both brief gamewide plot points (we work with gamewide story arcs, usually two of three interconnecting over the span of the current 'season', like how they used to do with the show) and side plottage (members are more than welcome to do their own personal side plots i.e. demon hunts, relationships, schooling, etc). We recommend (though its not mandatory, as to give that bit of freedom to the week schedule) that players try to keep in somewhat of an order. Like when the new week starts, keep new threads within the first half of the week and then when those are more than half-way finished, then move on to the later days in the week. Just be mindful not to put your pups in threads that are on corresponding days and times. You can't be two places at once, right?

Why are there two Parkers? Are they the same character?
That is a very complicated story. To sum it up quickly, we pretty much broke time. When the original Parker died (our Natalie Portman PB), she was given the choice to have back her life or to allow her sister, PJ, to have a new destiny herself (she was meant to die instead). Parker chose the latter so instead of passing on into the afterlife, the Elders made her a full Cupid. When this happened, it created a time slip stream that brought an alternate Parker (our Anna Paquin PB) into our world. With her arrival, time changed for everyone involved, so nobody remembers the previous Parker. Like I said, complicated.

Do you incorporate elements of other verses?
Why yes, yes we do. Little things, such as demons or ideas for new plots are things we use. However, this is not a pan-fandom game; it's based within the Charmed universe. That means no Twilight characters, no Supernatural, etc. Just Charmed.

I noticed you have Bill Compton in the game. I thought you said you don't mix verses.
True, we don't mix verses. However, the majority of us here happen to be big fans of True Blood, so we've recently decided to write in the True Blood verse vampires. How did we do that? The Charmed verse vampires are off-breeded from true vampires (the True Blood verse vampires) 1000s of years ago as a way to take the spotlight off them by creating a race that embraced the vampire stereotype: the aversion to holy water, garlic, sunlight, etc. Those vampires are merely demons. The true vampires are based on True Blood verse.

Can I take up a True Blood character since this is a Charmed game?
Maybe. We mods are going to be very selective about that, but if you like, you may inquire and talk to us about which one you'd like to pick up and why. No, you can't pick up Sookie or Jessica; both of those characters are already represented in the game (a player picked up the second version of Parker with Anna Paquin as her pb, and we have Jessica pegged for our third generation game).

What is this third generation game you speak of?
Exactly what it says, a game that centers around the next generation, i.e. Piper, Phoebe, and Paige's grandchildren. It was an idea that came up based on future Molly's exploits in a future thread we did in the past. This game is exclusive to Progeny members. Unless you are a member of this game or are in good standing with one of our members, then you cannot join the new game (which we've yet to properly name).
